What is a Dehumidifier?
A dehumidifier is an appliance that is used to reduce the amount of humidity in the air. It is typically used in homes as a way to reduce the chances of mould developing in a home because of the high level of humidity in the air. People often use these appliances as a way to deal with a variety of medical conditions that are caused or made worse by the humidity in the air.
When using this type of appliance water is that collected from the air is collected into a container inside the appliance. In more expensive dehumidifiers you may even be able to hook up the water output directly to a water or drain hose so that it runs out of the house and you don't have to worry about continuously emptying the container. If you cannot hook up a drain hose there is nothing to worry about because most of these appliances have an automatic shut off when the container is full or there will be a sensor that will notify you when the sensor is full. In most cases the bucket will fill in approximately eight hours but this may be less if there is a great amount of humidity in the air.
It is very important that the water be thrown out and not kept for any purpose. While the water that is collected does have some of the important minerals found in the water it has not gone through the entire distillation process that is needed to make water good enough to drink. In order to drink this water it would have be boiled for approximately five minutes. However, even if you boil the water you still have to keep in mind that the container in which the water is collected is not the cleanest and water is sitting there and it should not be consumed.
